Netflix releases season 2 of Selena: The Series this week, and it’s got Beyonce fans fact-checking a certain scene.
Season 2 focuses on Selena’s rise to fame and in episode 6, a young Beyonce has a chance meeting with the Tejano star at a Texas mall.
In this scene you see the actresses portraying Tina, Solange and Tina Knowles passing by Selena, her mom and manager at the Galleria.
Beyonce quickly takes notice, but is to shy to tell Selena about her own ambitions as a singer.
The encounter is based on real-life events. In a 2007 interview, the real Beyonce told MTV that she always heard Selena on the radio in Texas, so when she saw her at a mall in Houston, she had to say hello!
