Wildfire Smoke Reaches The East Coast

Written by on September 16, 2020

Smoke from the California wildfires has reached the East Coast.

According to AccuWeather meteorologist Matt Benz, you can draw a line from California all the way to Norfolk, Virginia and almost everyone north of that line is seeing smoke-tainted skies. The only reason states south of that line aren’t affected is because of air coming up from the Gulf.

In an interview with USA Today, Benz said:

“Amazingly, that wildfire smoke has traveled thousands of miles and finally has reached the East. It looks like clouds, but it is smoke. And we are stuck with this until the weather pattern changes.”

Luckily, the smoke is so high up in the sky that residents won’t have to worry about breathing it in, unlike the unfortunate people on the West Coast.
