I don’t know if I’m the only one that feels like this, but sometimes I’m just too hot to eat. So I’ve been trying to find alternatives other than my normal hot foods I whip up. This sticky August weather inspired me to change up my breakfast routine and try an acai bowl.
Looks cute, right? Nice & healthy! Mine definitely didn’t come out looking like that but I wanted to show you what its supposed to look like before I showed you mine.
I’ve been attempting to lean toward a more vegetarian/vegan diet by cutting out all meats and some animal based products – so this recipe was perfect for me! Also I purchased majority of these ingredients from the Public Market on Union – extremely affordable prices!
What I used:
2 packs of frozen Acai
1/3 cup of almond milk
2 bananas ( 1 is supposed to be frozen but I forgot ^_^)
1/4 cup of raw cocoa powder
handful of blueberries
1/3 cup of coconut flakes
1/2 cup of granola
dollop of vegan cream
drizzle of agave nectar
To start off I put the packs of acai, 1/3 cup of almond milk, & frozen banana in the blender. If you’d like to add a little chocolate taste add 1/4 cup of raw cocoa powder too.
Blend it all together and it should be a thick icy consistency.
& pour the mixture into a bowl. Then dice your strawberries and banana and put them into the acai mixture.
Hopefully yours looks better than mine.
After you add your fruits, top it off with some granola and coconut flakes!
For added sweetness drizzle a little agave & vegan whipped cream on top and enjoy!
I know it looks nasty but trust me it was delicious!!
