U.S. Land Borders North & South Will Remain Closed Until At Least Jan.21

Written by on December 13, 2020

Since COVID-19 cases are still on the rise, the powers that be have seen fit to keep the US / Canada and the US / Mexican land borders closed until at least January 21st.

Chad Wolf, acting Secretary of the U.X. Department of Homeland Security tweeted this:

“In order to continue to prevent the spread of COVID, the US, Mexico, & Canada will extend the restrictions on non-essential travel through Jan. 21. We are working closely with Mexico & Canada to keep essential trade & travel open while also protecting our citizens from the virus.”

The borders first closed back in March, and the Department of Homeland Security has been issuing month-to-month extensions.

While the land borders remain closed, air travel across them is still possible, but highly regulated. For example, if you want to fly to Canada from the U.S. you must prove they are traveling for an essential purpose, along with not presenting COVID-19 symptoms and planning to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
