Tropical Storm Sally Threatens An Already Damaged Gulf Coast

Written by on September 14, 2020

Another tropical storm is barreling towards the Gulf Coast.

Sally has already triggered evacuations in Louisiana and the northern Gulf Coast, as it is expected to make landfall on Monday, bringing with it 90mph winds.

Ground zero should be somewhere around the Louisiana / Mississippi border and predictions say the storm will weaken very quickly as it moves north.

Ben Schott, meteorologist-in-charge of the National Weather Service office in New Orleans said:

“It’s possible we could see winds of 100 mph, with gusts to 120 along the coast as Sally makes shore.”

The National Weather service weighed in as well, saying:

“Life-threatening storm surge, torrential rainfall, and damaging winds (are) expected to move into the area late Monday and continue for the better part of Tuesday before improving Wednesday morning.”

This is a developing story.
