The Weeknd’s HBO ‘The Idol’ in Chaos, Future Uncertain

March 2, 2023

If you didn’t know, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye teamed up with his longtime collaborator Reza Fahim and the Euphoria creator Sam Levinson to create an upcoming show called ‘The Idol.’ HBO had billed the show as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood”—Tesfaye cast as a cult leader in the entertainment business, and a pop star Lily-Rose Depp among his followers. Amy Seimetz had signed on to direct the series but left last year with most of the show filmed. According to Rolling Stone, the show is in chaos after abrupt changes in staff and creative direction. The future of the abrupt changes is uncertain, and there has been no comment at this time.
