Stay Safe This Holiday Season: 12 Omicron Cases Found in Monroe County

After discovering that the new COVID-19 variant, omicron, was discovered in Monroe County, more data has been released. Between December 1st and December 15th, 125 lab samples of COVID-19 were tested and it found 17 cases of the Omicron variant, according to UR Medicine. 12 of the cases are found in Monroe County, one was in Ontario County, one was in Wayne County, and the remainder were from people out of state.

Dr. Michael Mendoza, the Public Health Commissioner for Monroe County, stated: “Make no mistake, we are headed into another surge of COVID whether we like it or not…There will almost certainly be disruptions to our day-to-day lives and if we do not get on top of this, there could be major disruptions.”
