After discovering racist and demeaning text messages about Rochester students, several Rochester City School District teachers/staff have been put on leave – and may even be terminated. On Friday morning, Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small sent out a statement saying the district is aware of text messages exchanged by staff that included “racist and demeaning references.”
Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small stated: “It is important for all of us to know that words and languages do matter. Any type of behavior or mindset that is used to humiliate or devalue our scholars is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our district.”
