Yesterday, Rochester City Hall held a celebration block party for Juneteenth. This marked the first time the city of Rochester held a party for Juneteenth, which finally became a recognized federal holiday. The block party included food trucks and live music.
Mayor Malik Evans stated: “People are meeting each other for the first time, and that’s what I love. We want people to reflect on the significance of Juneteenth, but more importantly to bring the community together – that’s what we’re all about – collaboration and bringing folks together.”
