Rochester Summer Soul Music Festival Canceled for 2020

(Friday, July 24, 2020) — The Rochester Summer Soul Music Festival, originally scheduled for August 28 and 29 at Frontier Field, has been Postponed due to the New York State restrictions on mass gatherings related to COVID-19.

“Though we are disappointed to reschedule the 25th anniversary celebration that was planned for the festival this year, the health and safety of festival attendees remains our first priority,” said event promoter Varick Baiyina of Xperience Live Events.

Formerly known as the Rochester Music Fest, 2020 would have been the 25th year the event has taken place in Rochester. It began at Brown Square then Genesee Valley Park and has since taken place at different sites around the city. The past two years, the event was held at Frontier Field and hosted national recording artists George Clinton, Angie Stone, Morris Day and the Time, and Al B. Sure, among many others.

“Although we will not be able to gather together for this popular event this summer, we eagerly await next summer so that we can still honor the 25th anniversary of this historic Rochester event and make the 2021 Rochester Summer Soul Festival an incredibly memorable one,” said City Special Events Manager Kara Osipovitch.

Concert-goers who have already purchased tickets via the Frontier Field box office or Groupon should visit www.rocsummersoulfest.com for specific instructions on how to either retain their ticket for the 2021 festival or receive a refund.
