Rochester Police Dept.: One Officer Charged in Daniel Prude Case

Written by on September 24, 2021

Officer Mark Vaugh of the Rochester Police department has been served with departmental charges in relation to the restraint of Daniel Prude on March 23, 2020, according to the Rochester Police Department. Officer Vaughn was seen putting a spit sock over Daniel Prude’s head in the body camera footage released last September.

Joe, Daniel Prude’s brother, spoke out saying that this is the closest thing to justice that he has seen in 18 months: “That was a moment [as if] my mother rubbed my shoulders and said, ‘Baby, you did it. You really stood up for your child. Even though that ain’t your child. That’s your brother. But you raised him like he was your son. This is a great moment.”
