Rochester Mayoral Candidates Urge Voting Early

Written by on June 12, 2021

Local elections are coming sooner than we think, as soon as this weekend. Two-term Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is fighting for a third term, as City Councilman Malik Evans attempts to unseat Warren. The primary day, also known as the last day to vote, is June 22nd. Both candidates urge voters to get out and vote early.

Mayor Lovely Warren has had a lot on her plate, both personal and professional. She has been focusing on racial equity within the City of Rochester. One such proposal is using revenue from marijuana-related sales to give to residents in distressed neighborhoods as a form of reparations.

City Councilman Malik Evans’ campaign has largely focused on public safety, plans for city youth, economic empowerment, as well as plans to combat gun violence. Evans’ stated; “I think we’re making great progress. I think our message is resonating with the community,” and has repeatedly said he wants to restore ‘trust and transparency’ in City Hall.
