Roc Summer Soul Festival Update [VIDEO]

June 2, 2021

In 2020, preparations for a big 25th Anniversary of the Roc Summer Soul Fest were underway. But then Covid hit and concerts around the world were cancelled.

One year later, the City of Rochester is ready to welcome fans back to Frontier Field for the 25th annual 2-day event.

Part of the celebration includes honoring the original founders of the Rochester Music Fest; former Mayor Bill Johnson and City Council President Lorretta Scott.

The festival will kick off at 5pm on Friday August 27th with the Roc Summer Soul Tailgate tribute to the late DMX hosted by the Ruff Ryders.

DJ Big Reg and Grand Tone will also host a DJ Tribute, honoring 7 DJ’s who are pillars in the Rochester music scene.

The organizers ask that all attendees of Friday’s tailgate are fully vaccinated prior to the event.

Tickets are on sale at www.RocSummerSoulFest.com

The main event is Saturday August 28th. starring Boyz II Men, Rochester’s own singer Tweet, Sugar Bear and E.U. (Da Butt Song)

Dan Mason, General Manager of the Rochester Red Wings said that there will be “Vaccinated” and “Unvaccinated” sections at Frontier Field. He stressed that vaccinated people who feel more comfortable sitting in a spaced-out, masked-up section are welcome to sit in the “Unvaccinated” section.

Salvatores.com is the title sponsor of this year’s Roc Summer Soul Fest.

We love that because Mr. Salvator recently partnered with our friend Van Jones, owner of People’s Kitchen Jerk Sauce.
