Recognize Rochester : The Chiles Feed the Children

Written by on May 27, 2016

A young God-fearing Rochester couple decided to give back to their community with weekly barbeques for the kids. Christian Chiles, 27 and Elizabeth Chiles, 28, sat at home one day discussing their desire to bless others how God has blessed them. The stay at home dad of two brainstormed with his wife, and they both agreed that providing food for the kids at local parks met their aspiration.

The couple chose to do this charitable deed every Wednesday for 2 reasons: Elizabeth doesn’t work on Wednesdays, and Mr. Chiles also believes that Wednesdays are the best days to offer free meals, “Being that it’s the middle of the week… people’s funds are depleting waiting to get paid Thursday or Friday… a free meal sounds like a great alternative.”

Their first stop was Burrows Park (on Otis and Burrows St.). The warm response they received from the park goers confirmed what was in their spirit. Now each and every Wednesday, for the rest of the summer, Christian and Elizabeth will set up their BBQ stand at a park of their choosing, and hand out free burgers, hot dogs and chips to the kids. They will spend two Wednesdays at each park so the kids & parents can get familiar with their faces.

“.I just want to make the kids smile and all the helpers feel good knowing they did something for someone else that probably lightened up their day or even brightened their mood.”-Christian

The Chiles BBQ Stand will be coming to a park near you.
