One Night. Fifteen Minutes. A Life Upended

Written by on December 1, 2020

Albert Wilson’s life forever changed one night in September of 2016. Albert, a college student at the University of Kansas who was passionate about impacting the world and reshaping the narrative of Black identity through journalism, was accused of raping a young woman he met at a popular college bar called Jayhawk Café.

The interaction between the two lasted only 15 minutes, but the result changed Albert’s life forever. He was later convicted despite no physical evidence of sexual intercourse, an impossible timeline, and a biased jury.
This is definitely not the only time a social event has revealed an unfortunate result. It also is a constant reminder that the representation of our society is far from perfect. The details in this story are pretty interesting.
