NYS: Religious Exemptions Will No Longer Be Allowed For Healthcare Workers

Written by on November 18, 2021

It has been a journey of shortage of healthcare workers, and now that might even get worse. As of next Monday, November 22nd, New York State says all healthcare workers should be vaccinated and religious exemptions will no longer be allowed.

According to CEO Michael Stapleton at Thompson Health, this change might make things even harder. Stapleton said: “I’d never experienced what we experienced yesterday in my entire career. I’ve been doing this for 30 years.” Stapleton said that the staffing crisis hit a new record when the ER built for 24 patients, had 45 admitted.

Governor Kathy Hochul stated that the state is standing by to help but doesn’t seem likely to allow religious exemptions to continue: “We have 1,000 student nurses who are waiting to be deployed like this, we have the national guard.”
