NY Senator Schumer Pushes for FEMA to Boost Flood Prevention along Lake Ontario

Yesterday, Senator Chuck Schumer visited Wayne County to announce an effort to protect lakeshore communities from flood damage. According to Schumer, he’s secured $500 million to fund disaster recovery projects, as part of President Biden’s infrastructure bill passed last year. Regardless of the funding, FEMA has yet to release the funding to states to allow communities to access the money. No vote has been scheduled on this bill, but it would help residents and businesses rebuild and prevent future disasters.
