The nonprofit organization, Investigative Network, may have found the key to getting long awaited justice for Sandra Bland.

They have apparently unearthed cell phone footage, filmed by Bland herself, showing from her perspective the experience between her and Texas State Trooper Brian Encinia. It further confirms that Encinia flat out LIED on the stand in his defense!!

Trifling, to say in the least…

If you aren’t familiar with her tragic story, here’s a quick recap:

  • July 10, 2015- Bland was stopped for a failure to signal by Trooper Encinia near Prairie View A&M University.
  • “Fearing for his safety,” Encinia arrested Bland, who was eventually charged with suspicion of assaulting a public servant and jailed.
  • July 13, 2015- Bland was found hanging in her jail cell, her death ruled a suicide.
  • March 2016- Encinia was fired from the Texas Department of Public Safety and was charged with perjury by a grand jury due to his false recount of the incident.
  • Perjury charges against Encinia were dropped, in exchange he agreed to never work in law enforcement again.

According to Investigative Network, the video was discovered by the prosecution just two months after Bland’s death. The Department of Public Service remains adamant that the video was turned over with all other evidence to Bland’s family earlier…. but then why is this only surfacing now, four years after her death?

The Bland family’s attorney, Cannon Lamber, said, “I’ve not seen it, if they had turned it over, I would have seen it.” …smh.

With this new development, the family of Sandra Bland is calling for the case to be reopened. My hope is that she will finally get the justice she and her family deserves. RIP Sandra Bland, SAY HER NAME!!!!
