New Cream Cheese Shortage Affects Local Businesses

We’ve seen a plethora of weird shortages throughout the pandemic, but now this one takes the cake, literally. Local businesses that rely on cream cheese as the main ingredient in recipes are having a bit of a panic as a shortage is on the rise, and while it may not be life-threatening, it still causes some concerns. Rochester’s very own Cheesy Eddie’s is one of many who are facing this very issue. There, the freezer is the equivalent of a bank vault and the cream cheese is gold.
COO at Cheesy Eddie’s, Stephen Baker, stated: “We do have a little bit. It will get us through the next two to three weeks and we hope we can figure out another source to get more…Usually we don’t have any concern about this but now we are having to be a lot more intentional about, we have a certain amount. What do we do with it?”
