Mushrooms may be the next new fashion statement or you might find your self working and living in mushrooms. So not only can mushrooms provide you with a trippy experience it is being used in building materials.
Mycelium is being used by a London based bio manufacturing company Biohm. They grow it on a large scale by feeding it sawdust and food waste. By doing this they create products like insulation panels that could replace plastic ones. Their goal is to solve global challenges with more natural solutions that could fertilize soil and is safe to be composted.
Another company in San Francisco is using mycelium to make a leather substitute called Reishi for fashion. They are using it to make hats, wallets, handbags, and bowls.
