Mayor Warren and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Present: “Around the Town” Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts

Mayor Lovely Warren and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra invite residents to a series of free, “Around the Town” Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts scheduled throughout the city this summer.

“The RPO Around the Town Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts offer an opportunity for families and neighbors to experience the joy of classical music right in their neighborhoods. Quality of life events such as these bolster our efforts to promote safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, which lead to more jobs and better educational opportunities for our citizens,” said Mayor Warren.

Performances feature various ensembles made of up RPO musicians and run Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All performances are open to the public, free of charge and tickets are not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. 

The “Around the Town” Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, July 9- Southeast Quadrant: RPO Marimba Band – in conjunction with neighborhood’s annual Cops and Dogs event (hot dog cookout with RPD members) – Barrington Park, aka “Park Avenue Green,” on the corner of Barrington Street and Park Avenue. (Rain location: Immanuel Baptist Church, Park Avenue and Brunswick Street)

Tuesday, July 16- Southwest Quadrant: RPO Wind Quintet- Susan B. Anthony Square, 31 Madison St. (Rain location: The DePaul Carriage Factory Apartments, 33 Litchfield St.)

Tuesday, July 23- Northwest Quadrant: RPO String Quartet- Maplewood Rose Garden Pavilion, 24 Driving Park Ave; Rain location: Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St  

Tuesday, July 30- Northeast Quadrant: RPO Southeast Corner of Joseph & Clifford, 576 Joseph Ave. Rain location: Avenue D R-Center, 200 Ave D.
