Lawrence Fishburn Talks About His Role In The New Show #FreeRayshawn

#FreeRayshawn is a brand new show starring Lawrence Fishburn, Stephan James and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
The show will premiere on the relatively new streaming app Quibi, a mobile-centric streaming platform that focuses on shorter programming options that launched back in April.
#FreeRayshawn is a story about a man trying to prove that he’s innocent so he can stay out of jail for a crime he didn’t commit.
Stephan James plays Rayshawn, who meets Lawrence Fishburn’s character Steven Poincy: a veteran police officer who helps the detectives who are arresting Rayshawn, but isn’t sure he’s guilty.
The series focuses on Poincy’s inner conflict between doing his job and trying to help Rayshawn tell his side.
Fishburn let Eurweb know what it felt like to play his character:
“What I was attempting to do was portray a whole person who is not one thing or another thing. But is an African American police officer and as a person of color has to deal with the realities of what that means in this country. That was one of the reasons I wanted to do it because it’s a perspective that we don’t often get to hear.”
