Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s Husband Arrested For Failure To Register As A Sex Offender

Written by on March 5, 2020

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty turned himself in to U.S. Marshals and was in federal court Wednesday. The reason for his arrest was from an indictment due to him not registering as a sex offender after moving to California.

Yikes!

Talk about bad timing, being this month is Women’s History Month.

Anyway, reports say Mr. Petty was pulled over in Beverly Hills in November and that’s when police found he was a sex offender. That’s when was arrested for not registering as a sex offender in the State of California. Mr. Petty was released on $20,000 bond but failed to report as a sex offender which is required, by law, when moving to another state.

According to TMZ the iconic rappers husband appeared in court Wednesday pleading not guilty to the charges. Petty will post the  $100,000 bond, required to wear an ankle monitor, have a curfew, and is on pretrial supervision. He will also have to surrender his passport, say no to all drugs, and be on travel restriction to only Southern California.

His next court date is March 23. If he is found guilty he will face up to 10 years in prison. Mr. Petty was convicted of first degree attempted rape in 1995 and did almost 4 years in prison.

Someone jokingly asked me if we were going to pull Nicki Minaj’s music because she married a man convicted of rape. What are your thoughts?

I don’t think her music should be pulled but it does bring up the question of her integrity. However, she would not be my choice at empowerment events for young girls.

What you do and who you marry is your choice, but if you are a public figure and you marry a sex offender you will have to deal with the backlash.
