Jam Squad Recap: Francis Parker School No. 23

Written by on June 26, 2019

On Monday, June 24th the WDKX Jam Squad made an appearance at Francis Parker School No. 23 for their end of the school year picnic.

The event was great! There were games, great food, student performances and lots of activities for all members of the family. Netsin’s Ice Cream truck even stopped by to provide a sweet and cool treat for everyone. ?  Seeing all the students run around in the school’s playground and having fun with their friends on their last day made me miss being in elementary school… a little bit.

I also noticed that everything about school #23 is extremely diverse! The teachers, students and families all represented a wide range of different ethnicities and cultures. I think that’s such an amazing attribute to have at a school. It creates an all inclusive culture where no one feels left out or marginalized, and also allows for the students, and teachers, to learn to be tolerant of other races and traditions.

My favorite part of the picnic was the bike raffle. We were able to give away three bikes to three students of different age groups. It was so exciting to join in their excitement and to see their faces when they realized they won an awesome bike! ? Not to mention, bikes are a great form of exercise and these kids are about to have A WHOLE LOT of extra energy to burn off. LOL!

Shout out to Francis Parker School No. 23 on making it through another great school year and for throwing the best end of the year picnic. From our WDKX family to yours, we hope you all have a great and safe summer! ??‍♀️✌?
