Idris Elba tests positive for coronavirus

As the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, actor and former “sexiest man alive” Idris Elba took to social media to highlight that he had tested positive for coronavirus (also known as COVID-19).

In a Twitter post, Elba said that he has “no symptoms so far” and then went on to highlight the importance of isolation after finding out about his exposure to the virus. He then urged followers to “stay home” and “be pragmatic” before adding that there was “no panic” surrounding his diagnosis. The star appeared beside his wife Sabrina Dhowre in a video on social media. It is currently unknown whether Dhowre has tested positive for the virus, although Elba said that she was “doing ok”.

Idris Elba is currently hotly tipped to play James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure from the role. If the rumors prove to be true, Elba would become the first person of color to play 007.

The Mandela, Jungle Book and Pacific Rim star is not the first A-list Hollywood actor to have tested positive for the virus. Last week Tom Hanks and his wife revealed that they had both tested positive for COVID-19, and that they were in the process of recovering in isolation at an undisclosed location in Australia.
