Yesterday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $10 million plan to revitalize a once-bustling section of downtown Rochester that’s fallen into disrepair over the years. This new plan includes five projects, with $4 million going toward transforming the corner of Main Street and Clinton Avenue.
Mayor Malik Evans stated: “I kept saying it was an abomination and a crying shame what was happening on that corner, and I am glad that New York state agreed with us. Not only do they agree with us, but they provided the resources to make sure that we move in a strategic direction to make sure that, as we reinvest all around Rochester with Roc the Riverway and all of our other investments, that we not leave a gaping, embarrassing hole at the corner. And now with the life-changing investments that have been made and announced here today, we have the ability to make sure today that missing piece of the puzzle is filled in.”
