Fredrick Douglass Statue Vandalized in Rochester

Frederick Douglass statue vandalized on anniversary of his famous Fourth of July Rochester speech

According to Rochester police, the Maplewood statue was left about 50 feet from its pedestal damaged on the base and lower portion of the statue.

Reports say the statue is damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced. The location of the statue was in a historically significant place because it is where Douglass and Harriet Tubman would move slaves along the Underground Railroad to freedom.
