Avenue BlackBox Theatre Awarded $190,000

Avenue BlackBox Theatre, a local Black-owned theatre, has been awarded a combination of grants and donations to improve its operations and community outreach. The theatre secured $190,000 to hire new employees, improve youth and community relations, and improve its building on Joseph Avenue.
New York State Senator Samra Brouk stated: “The Avenue BlackBox Theatre is an important part of Rochester’s unique and diverse arts culture. I am proud to have helped secure state funding to keep this community gem shining bright for our families.”
