Animal Cruelty Rate Skyrockets In Texas Due To Freezing Outdoor Conditions

Due to the adverse weather in Texas, there has been a drastic increase in reports of animal cruelty, from about 30 calls a day to over 150.
Julie Kuenstle, Houston SPCA vice president of communications, said:
“The neglect is already there, but these extreme and now deadly temperatures exacerbate the situation.”
While the Houston SPCA was preparing for the aftermath of the drop in temperatures, they were not prepared for the sheer volume of calls they’d be receiving.
Their lines were already stretched thin before the storms, but now the staff is working around the clock to make sure they are there animals that need them.
