Airport Businesses Await Lift Bridge Reopening as Summer Approaches

With warmer weather appraoching, Fairport business owners grow fearful of lost foot traffic due to the closed lift bridge.
The bridge has been closed since September 2019 and was supposed to open back up last November. However, there was a delay due to lack of supplies.
The Department of Transportation says the crew will be working 7 days a week in two shifts. They also said the bridge should be opened by mid-June.
Business owner, Doug Sharp is remaining hopeful.
He stated:
“We’re certainly super excited to get it opened back up there’s no doubt about that, to see that traffic flowing through. And could there be more traffic in our stores because of it? Yes there always could be.”
