9 People Arrest During Protest Over The Death Of Daniel Prude

Nine people were arrested during the protest Wednesday over the death of Daniel Prude. A black man who died while in the custody of the Rochester Police Department.

RPD said 8 people were arrested for criminal trespass, 1 person for inciting a riot. Wednesday night’s protest started at the Public Safety Building. Protesters marched through the streets and came to a stop on Jefferson Avenue. A host of speakers called for justice for Prude, calling out Mayor Lovely Warren and the union that represents police officers.

Prude was unarmed, naked and handcuffed during the incident back in March. His family says he was having a mental breakdown when police were called for help. He died one week after he was taken into custody by RPD. His death was ruled a homicide. More Protest are expected Thursday.
