2016 Youth Summer Jobs Program

The City of Rochester’s Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP) and the RochesterWorks! Youth Summer Employment Program is seeking community partners to offer structured, project-based paid work experiences for youth during summer 2016 as a host work site.

This Request for Application seeks to identify qualified local businesses, non-profits and faith-based organizations with the skill, proper work space, computer facilities and payroll capabilities needed to provide a summer work experience.

This program places more than 700 youth, ages 14 to 20 years-old, in paid, structured work experiences each summer. State and local funding is expected to provide selected work host sites with funds to compensate their participants.

Information and applications are accessible at www.cityofrochester.gov/bidandrfp or www.hiremerochester.org. Applications are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 and should be emailed to SYEP@rochesterworks.org. Applications will be evaluated based on creativity, specificity of experience, demonstrated expertise in project themes, level of youth engagement, measurable outcomes, contributing partnerships, fiscal capacity and overall cost efficiency.

All applicants must attend a bidders conference at the Danforth Community Center, 200 West Ave. at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.1, 2015 or 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016.

Colorado Planned Parenthood Shooting

Three people killed, 2 civilians and a police officer. Mid day Friday, November 27th, after a gunman opened fire at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic. After a six-hour standoff with police, they have captured the suspect.

Cnn.com reports “The perpetrator is in custody. The situation has been resolved. There’s no continuing peril to the citizens of Colorado Springs,” Mayor John Suthers told reporters. “But there’s a huge crime scene that has to be processed.”
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family’s and friends.

DJ Sight’s Thanksgiving

Okay here’s my blog on cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the very first time, I cooked everything except for the turkey, But  I seasoned the turkey & my uncle deep fried it for me.

So on the menu I had deep fried turkey, homemade stuffing from scratch, and homemade baked macaroni and cheese two different kinds the kind your grandma used to make & the other one with turkey bacon in it with cream of Mushroom

Despite having a few  dilemmas  Thursday morning  that set me back about 4 hours I still made it through,
& the food came  are excellent

Now about to sit down and enjoy my food and get fat and then pretend I’m going to the gym Friday morning all I’m missing now is one of those Tiffany sweet potato pies.
