Petition Started To Fire Dr. Avery
Lucky for Jesse him and his “boss” have something in common, #Melanin. Its been just a little over a week now that Jesse Williams gave his Humanitarian speech at the BET Awards. The speech ignited a fire in blacks everywhere, and now some are working overtime to out it. Erin Smith, whom I believe is safe to assume is a white female, began a petition online to have Jesse Williams removed from Grey’s Anatomy. Smith claims that Williams’ speech is “a cascade of inappropriate, unprofessional and racist commentary against police officers and Caucasians.”
Well, after Grey’s Anatomy’s executive producer and head writer, Shonda Rhimes, took a listen to Jesse’s speech she found no issue with his commentary and made it clear that she would not be firing Dr. Avery. Of course that rubbed Erin and her supporters the wrong way, and now she’s escalating her stance requesting that the entire ABC network be boycotted. The petition has received a whopping 20,000 signatures. All we can do now is wait to see what happens next.
