General Mills recalls Gold Medal, Gold Medal Wondra, and Signature Kitchens flour because of possible E. coli O121 contamination.

General Mills is investigating with health officials a multistate outbreak of the E. coli in the flour and is voluntarily recalling the products.

E. coli O121 is more dangerous than any other strain of the E. coli bacteria because it is can be potentially deadly. E. coli O121 can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. People who are most affected by the foodborne illness are seniors, the very young, and persons with compromised immune systems.

You might be wondering well how in the world can E. coli get in flour? It can happen because E. coli (Escherichia coli) is bacteria which is found in the environment, foods, intestines of people and animals.
