ROCHESTER POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS ESCORT STUDENTS AND STAFF IN NEIGHBORHOOD PEACE MARCH

WHAT: Students and staff cap-off a week of activities to promote peace with a march through the school neighborhood

DETAILS: Every year School No. 2 designates a week to celebrate and promote peace by having students and staff participate in various discussions and activities. Parents and community volunteers also play a role in emphasizing the importance of living peaceful lives.

On Friday, the school will march in its annual Peace Parade through the neighborhood, escorted by police and fire trucks. Students will make banners and walk with them during the march. At the end of the parade, the entire school forms the Peace Sign on the playground where they will sing and listen to guest speakers, including Reverend Arthur Dillbert. Representatives from “Stop the Violence,” a church group who helps children learn how to deal with their problems, will also be present. The event has been taking place for the past 20 years.
