Why Should I Date a Man with Kids?

After months to years of thinking men are dogs, and that you’re probably going to be single forever, you finally run into what you presume is the perfect guy.  After first glance and conversation, he pretty much checks off all the criteria on yourMy Perfect Guy Qualities list, until he responds with, “Yes I do have kids.”

You swore up and down that you would never date a guy with kids.  You’re a single hard working woman with zero kids yourself, why would you settle for a man with that type of baggage correct? But he’s damn near perfect.  Maybe you can overlook that one “flaw”, but why?  You begin thinking about the “baby momma drama,” him never having time for you, child support money cutting into your spending money, etc.  But what if he has that all under control?

Him and baby momma (we are hoping it’s just one) have already established a healthy co-parenting relationship, and drama is nonexistent.  He’s genuinely interested in you so he makes time for you away from his paternal duties, and if everything goes well you may be included in those father-kid rendezvous.  His job pays him well so you don’t have to worry about funds being depleted due to child support.

Ladies, a man that takes good care of his kids, will definitely take good care of you. Marriage and children are the ultimate goals when entering a relationship.  Witnessing the way a father already tends to his children should assure you that this man will make a good father to your kids one day.   Not to mention that he’s obviously family oriented, and what woman doesn’t want a man that puts family first.  Seems like a bright future to me.

I understand you will be sacrificing the warmth and joy of raising yours and his first child together, but there is a level of expertise and security that is encompassed in a man that has “already done this before.”  You can have the relief of knowing that he will pick up the slack if you fall off.  He will be able to teach you a thing or two.
