Dej Loaf New Mixtape ‘All Jokes Aside’ Reign Review

Dej Loaf

So Dej Loaf’s Mixtape All Jokes Aside dropped last week and being a fan of Dej I was very anxious to listen!

Ummm…… *sigh* It took me a minute to figure out how I was going to write this review because I didn’t want to say I completely dislike her mixtape. I listened several times to see if I could find more than one song that I was feeling and could vibe to…. I just couldn’t.

What I will say is as a fan of Dej Loaf since Sell Sole I have to admit I expected a lot more especially after her EP #AndSeeThatsThing. Disappointed – VERY.

The only song I liked and thought was dope was ‘Make Money’. The hook is super catchy, beat is on point, her vocals and lyrics were mediocre at best but good enough to make me wanna Dab one time.

What I didn’t like about All Jokes Aside (even though it was free) is that it feels like she took a bunch of throw away songs and put them all together for this mixtape. Some of the songs sound like she is all over the place with her flow and there is no structure especially on ‘Who Am I’, ‘Keep Going’, and ‘Bitch Please’. It’s almost like she is trying hard to be hard on top of that there were moments where she sounded like an 8 year old kid rapping.

This mixtape I have to say Dej sounds undeveloped and is a prime example of why I think we need A&R’s back in the game. In my opinion this should never of been released, IF anything take the ‘Make Money’ song and use it as the lead single for a real album something her fans and music enthusiast can thoroughly enjoy.  I mean what is so wrong in waiting to release and album with quality music these days?

Now don’t get me wrong I love Dej Loaf BUT I am VERY disappointed as a fan! I feel like she is moving backwards not forward evolving like I had anticipated.
