Kendrick Lamar’s new album ‘Untitled Unmastered’ is intellectual brilliance served with a side of funky rhythm that brings me back to the land of Hip Hop. The new album consist of songs Kendrick worked on and recorded while he was creating his Grammy Award winning album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.

(Sidebar: Conroy has there ever been a Drake album played in it’s entirety on WDKX… I’ll wait)

With ‘Untitled Unmastered’ Kendrick takes you on a journey that’s raw and real. Through his lyrics he tells a story – his story.  You can visualize each song while feeling what he is rapping about in your inner being.

If there was some sort of hip hop formula to describe Kendrick’s album for me it would be 1/3 A Tribe Called Quest ‘Midnight Marauders’ , 1/3 Wu Tang Clan’s ’36 Chambers’, and 1/3 Pharcyde ‘Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde’.

Untitled 3 (5.28.13) is by far my favorite off of the album. It’s almost like your walking with him through an African desert (kind of like a scene out of Mad Max) as he provides you with a translation from each race over drums that hit like the Gods are attacking  – please listen to this in a vehicle or with nice speakers to get the full experience…. “(What did the Asian say?) A peace of mind”

There is not one song on this album I don’t like and there is usually one, on all albums even with Beyoncé and I loooooove Queen Bey. Kendrick Lamar is definitely setting the bar with his latest work or better masterpieces. He is creative, innovative, inspiring, and most of all influencing his fans to look a little deeper than the surface.

Untitled 07 (2014-2016) – “drugs won’t get you high as this’… levitate, levitate, levitate, levitate… “For Free?” won’t get you high like this here, no.”  (My #2 favorite)
