Black History: Barack Obama

Written by on February 19, 2016

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States becoming the first African American to hold that office. President Obama was re-elected for a second four-year term as prephotosident on November 6, 2012 receiving nearly five million more votes than Republican opponent Mitt Romney and capturing more than 60 percent of the Electoral College. Over the course of the eight years, President Obama has accomplished a lot in order to restore the U.S from Bush’s mess. His list of accomplishments include ending the war in Iraq, creating universal health insurance by signing the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare, improving the U.S’ relations with Cuba, lowering the unemployment rate to five percent, eliminating Osama Bin Laden, and legalizing same sex marriage just to name a few. President Obama is currently serving his second and final term, which will end in January 2017. He will go down in history as one of the best presidents we’ve had.
