Woman Goes To Sleep With A Headache Wakes Up Speaking With An Accent

Written by on February 15, 2018

A woman from Arizona who has never left the United States went to bed with a serious migraine only to wake up the next day with an unexplained British accent.
Have you ever heard of Foreign Accent Syndrome?
Yeah, neither have I but it’s a real condition that has affected about 100 in the past century where you end up with an unexplained accent. It usually affects people who have suffered a traumatic brain injury or a stroke.
Michelle Myres has been speaking with this accent about a year now after she had a blinding migraine one night and went to bed only to wake up sounding like she was fresh from the U.K.
She has had previous accents due to a condition she has called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome but the different accents she has experienced from Irish to Australian have only lasted a week.
Myres told NY Daily News, “They send in the psychiatrist at the hospital and make sure you’re not a loon.”
Interesting to say the least.
Now only if one could fall asleep and wake up the next day to a new President.
