R.I.T. student in guarded condition after being hit by truck

Written by on January 17, 2018

(DAIQUON)– A college student from RIT was critically injured after being struck by a truck.

Deputies stated that 24 year old Steven Carranco from Perris, California was walking along the West shoulder of East River Road when he was hit by a box truck.
Many students walk this route to school yet there are no street lights or signs to caution drivers of possible pedestrians. Also there are about 1,200 students that are hard of hearing on RITs campus, Carranco being one, so implementing a lighting system to notify pedestrians of on coming traffic may be helpful as well.
Carranco is currently being held at Strong Memorial Hospital for recovery.
No criminal charges have been filed.
Stay strong Steven! I hope you get well soon.
