It’s been about a year and a half since Philando Castile was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer in front of his 4 year old daughter and his girlfriend Diamond Reynolds who will receive a $800K settlement.
The city of St. Anthony, Minnesota agreed to pay Diamond Reynolds $675K, and $125K from the city of Roseville and The League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust for emotional distress and false arrest.
Reynolds was in the car live streaming the deadly shooting after they were pulled over by St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez July 6, 2016.
A portion of the settlement will put in a trust for Reynolds’ daughter education.
Pilando’s mother, Valerie Castile, was awarded $2.995 million in a wrongful death settlement against the city of St. Anthony a few months prior to this new settlement.
The death of Philando sparked outrage and protest with the #blacklivesmatter movement through out the country.
