A crew member for the TV show "COPS" who was injured while filming an officer-involved shooting in Nebraska on Tuesday has died.
The reality show's production company confirmed with The Washington Post Wednesday that Bryce Dion died in the hospital following the armed robbery he was filming.
"We are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragedy and our main concern is helping his family in any way we can," Pam Golum wrote in an email to the newspaper. "Bryce Dion was a long term member of the Cops team and a very talented and dedicated person. We mourn his passing. An investigation is ongoing and we are cooperating with local authorities."
It wasn't immediately clear how Dion was injured. Police officials told Fox that the suspect in the shootout "died from gunshot wounds" at about 9:20 p.m., Tuesday, after attempting to rob a Wendy's in Omaha.
No other injuries were reported in the incident and no other suspects were sought by police.
"COPS," which has been on air since 1989, has been filming in Omaha for most of the summer, KCCI reports. Police were expected to reveal more details at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
