Ice Cube Says Lil Eazy-E Wasn't Polished Enough For N.W.A Biopic

The N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton has produced incredible loads of drama and we're still several months from even seeing an official trailer.

Ice Cube completed the latest chapter in the film's development saga when he finally broke his silence on the riff created after Lil Eazy-E a.k.a. Eric Wright, Jr. was allegedly snubbed from portraying his famous father in the movie.

During an interview with Colorado's KS 107.5, Cube (who serves as one of the producers for the film along with Dr. Dre) explained that Lil Eazy's exclusion was geared towards experience rather than nepotism.

"[He] is an up-and-coming actor trying to do it, but we needed somebody who was a little more polished to play Eazy, because he goes through a lot in his life," says Cube. "He goes from selling dope in Compton to fighting for his life in a hospital bed. So we needed to find an actor with a lot of range. And we just couldn't use just anybody. We gave him (Wright, Jr.) a shot, and it just didn't work out."

Lil Eazy has reportedly given his support to Jason Mitchell, the actor who eventually won the role. The cast also recently rounded out the entire rap group after Aldis Hodge and Neil Brown, Jr. were respectively enlisted to play MC Ren and DJ Yella.

Take a listen to the entire interview below where Cube gives a rundown on the filming process and discusses the release of his next album, Everythang's Corrupt.
