A Rochester woman was arrested after she allegedly left her four-year-old child in her car for more than two hours.
Thelma Edwards, 22 is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation charges.
According to Ontario County Sheriff's deputies, Edwards left her child in her car Thursday while she was at work at TGI Fridays in Victor. The child was discovered by a passerby, who stayed with him until police arrived.
"The mother had been at work and said that she did not have an ability to obtain child care for the day and therefore she felt it was her only option to bring the child to work. Again, this is something no one should do, not even for a minute. The potential for harm and disaster is tremendous," said Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero.
Edwards was arraigned in Farmington Town Court and is being held at the Ontario County Jail.
The child is being cared for by Ontario County Social Services.
