Rochester City School Superintendent Bolgen Vargas will reveal his plans for the future of East High School at a special board meeting Tuesday night.
The district was issued an ultimatum by the state's education department. The high school has been criticized by the state for its academic performance and, earlier this year, the district was given several options for the future.
The state said the district could close East High, a move that Vargas said he will not do. Another option would be to convert East to a charter school or bring in an outside group to run the school. One group, School Turnaround, has submitted a proposal to improve the school.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at central office, 131 W. Broad St.
