Rochester suitmaker Hickey Freeman has inked a deal with Polo Ralph Lauren on a "Made in America" clothing line.
The plant on North Clinton and Avenue D employs about 350 people, and the deal could mean as many as 50 new jobs in the next three years.
The Blue label line is considered one of Polo Ralph Lauren's high-end suits, retailing at $1,000-plus.
Hickey Freeman's owner said it's a perfect fit.
"There needed to be stability. There needed to be creativity, and I think companies like Polo were waiting - I can say immodestly - for owners like us," said owner and CEO Stephen Granovsky.
It's a perfect fit for workers too, who have weaved through uncertain times.
"During the past two administrations, we saw cutbacks and it's nice to see things coming back again," said tailor Carlos Martinez.
Hickey Freeman made it's first suit in 1899.
