The American Diabetes Association is working to increase awareness of the disease Tuesday during the 26th annual Diabetes Alert Day. The goal of the campaign is to help people determine their risk of developing pre-diabetes, also known as type 2 diabetes, through a series of events in the community.
Starting at 10 a.m., students, staff and faculty at Nazareth College will host a health fair on campus at the Otto A. Shults Community Center. The event runs until 2 p.m.
Starting at 8 p.m., experts from Unity Hospital will hold an interactive online question and answer session at unitydiabetescommunity.com
There will also be several YMCA locations set up throughout the area to screen for pre-diabetes:
Southeast Family YMCA, 111 E. Jefferson Rd., 9.am to 11 a.m.
