Tuition will be going up for University of Rochester and Eastman School of Music students.
The university says tuition will increase to $46,150 for the 2014-15 academic year, an increase of 3.5 percent.
Officials also say room and board costs will also be going up by 4.4 percent to $13,638. At the university's professional schools, tuition will also be raised.
Tuition at the School of Medicine and Dentistry will increase by 4.1 percent, the School of Nursing's three semester accelerated program by 3.3 percent, the Simon School of Business will go up 3.5 percent and the Warner School of Education will increase 3.8 percent increase.
At the same time, the college says it has also increased it's student financial aid commitment by 7.8 percent.
In a release, University President Joel Seligman said, "The University is committed to moderating the rate of tuition and cost of attendance increases, while strengthening our position as one of the nation's leading research universities."
"Providing financial assistance to meet the need of current and future students is a priority."
Officials say the Board of Trustees approved the rate increase at its March meeting.
