You know when you hear about a legal settlement and the report says that under the agreement the terms are being kept confidential? That confidentiality agreement even applies to Facebook posting.
A Florida family is learning that lesson the hard way after a teen's boasting about a legal settlement with a Miami prep school cost her dad his $80,000 settlement.
The Miami Herald reports Patrick Snay had sued Gulliver Preparatory School for age discrimination after he lost his job as headmaster. The school agreed to settle for $80,000 but the agreement had a stipulation that Snay and his wife not disclose the details with anyone.
The Snays' daughter, a recent graduate of the school, posted to her 1,200 Facebook friends about the settlement and that the money would pay for a family vacation to Europe. They may have reconsider those travel plans - or foot the bill for that vacation themselves.
A judge invalidated the settlement last week saying the post violated the confidentiality agreement.
